Good American Jeans Review Are They Worth The Hype
Good American jeans have been all the rage for the last few years. On its launch day alone, the brand sold $1 million dollars in merchandise.
However, theyre not exactly the most affordable jeans around. Not by a long shot.
Good American jeans can be found in some styles for $99 with other styles ranging as high as $165. Theyre definitely a splurge for many.
With Khloe Kardashian as a co-founder and face of the brand, many wonder if the jeans are really worth the hype or if its all just smoke and mirrors.

The New Launch That’s One Per Customer
Regardless of my size Ive been a size 10 right through to a size 20 in my life so far finding the Goldilocks of jeans has always a soul destroying task. Jean shopping for me involves taking multiple sizes into the fitting room, only to leave disheartened and sweaty when none of the pairs make it past my thighs.
Too long in the legs. Too tight around the thighs. Gapping at the lower back. Falling down every time you move. Ripped knee detailing sitting in the middle of my shin instead of on my knee.
So, I put my body on the line to find out if the much-hyped Good American jeans really are that good.
Aside from looking half decent, the Good American jeans are comfy. The denim fabric is stretchy but still firm – I’d put it between traditional denim and a thinner jegging type material. They don’t ride up, and they don’t fall down… much.
The jeans are high-waisted and sat just above my belly button where my waist naturally cinches in, but I still found myself tugging on the belt holes throughout the day, but less than I have with other jeans in the past.
I also got a lot of comments about the colour – I wore the Good American Good Legs Jeans in Dark Blue and they look exactly like they do online, it’s a great classic dark denim with the tiniest bit of fading.
My short legs mean I’ll forever be wearing my jeans rolled up, but what really impressed me about the Good American jeans is the design.

London-born fashion industry veteran Emma Grede and professional celeb Khloé Kardashian founded Good American in 2016. The co-founders were inspired to create the brand due to their own frustrating personal shopping experiences, as they found that they often had to alter denim to obtain their own perfect fit. Ive often walked out empty handed after trying on 17 pairs of jeans, so I feel this.
Initially a denim-only line, Good American was founded on the principle of providing denim options that catered to a curvier, sexier, and stronger shape. The brands popularity rapidly increased, and in 2018 Grede and Kardashian expanded their product line to include activewear and other clothing.
Good American is based on an ideal of self-empowered womanhood and a determination to challenge industry norms pertaining to inclusivity and diversity.
Its easy to get caught up in perfectionism, but Ive come to realize that perfect doesnt exist. Photoshopping does. Good American gets that too and thats why all the brands collections are photographed on three size ranges of models. Looking through its website, I saw small chests, rolls, and wobbly bits normally concealed by photoshopping. While the company is still focused on glam looks, it feels real.
I also love that its devoted to nurturing the next generation of women. A portion of the proceeds from every Good American clothing item goes to Step Up, a charitable organization that helps girls to fulfill their potential.

But The Reality Isn’t So Impressive
Of course, in a recently released survey on diversity, it was revealed that 32 percent of employees at the company are people of color, reported The Mirror. Of that 32 percent, just 15 percent are black . Fans appreciated the gesture the survey represented, but they also questioned whether the diverse employees are the ones working in warehouses versus designing clothing or serving in higher-up positions. The consensus seems to be that Good American has more work to do on diversity, even if the models are diverse.

Im obsessed with the leopard trend this year, so I knew I had to try these on as soon as I saw them. I thought theyd just be a fun thing Id try on and never think about again, but I. am. obsessed. These are the highest quality patterned denim Ive ever tried, and they dont look cheap either . These hugged all my curves in the same way that the regular denim did, but the look is obviously so fun!
Since trying these on, I have not stopped dreaming about them. I mean, look! Theyre amazing! You can dress them up or down, and theyre so comfortable. The sales associate saw me try them on and immediately noted that she was buying them later because they looked so great. I might just be placing the order on Nordstrom as we speak!

Curvy women will be all too familiar with the dreaded waist to stomach/bum ratio when it comes to jeans… If you have an hourglass figure, youll either be faced with a huge gap around the waist in favour of more room around your stomach, or a better fitting waist with unbearable tightness everywhere else. And dont even get us started on the camel toe mom jean saga.
This issue becomes even more pertinent with straight jeans a seemingly contradictory style for us curvy folk. Skinny jeans often have far more stretch and it is easier to find styles that hug the contours of your body comfortably, but most straight jeans are quite literally straight all the way down, leaving me unable to fit my behind into any of them.
Much to my delight, Good American has truly answered my prayers with these good heritage jeans. Designed with curves in mind, they are, revolutionarily, relaxed around the leg but fitted through the hips, giving me the perfect fit.

Plus, there was no disastrous gaping around the waist or unbearable tightness around my stomach, everything felt truly designed to my shape, and made me realise how robbed Ive been by other brands who made me feel like I couldnt wear straight leg jeans as a plus-size woman.

Their charity of choice is called Step Up, and it’s dedicated to helping girls in underserved communities find opportunities. Not many couture brands can say the same. Why Are Good American Jeans So Expensive
Good American jeans use high-quality fabrics in all of their products and feature reinforced belt loops that never rip.
Whats special about Good American is that they are TRULY inclusive and all items are high quality, functional, AND fashionable.
Maybe its my shape but in my experience, finding a great-fitting pair of jeans is like finding a needle in a haystack. When I do have those rare occasions that I find a pair that fits well, I tend to buy them in multiple washes because its just so rare.
So for me, Id rather spend $150 on a really good pair than $50 on a bunch of pairs that are so-so. I find that when you invest in a high-quality pair of jeans they end up lasting for years.
